Meet Mariya Rohn
Hello! Mariya here (: This is the part where I talk about myself, and my brain acts like it just doesn’t know how to work. I don’t think I’ll ever get good at this stuff! Will anyone really? Anyways, as I was growing up, I always played team sports. For as long as I can remember I was the one that had my teammates lined up braiding and styling everyone’s hair before our games. As I got older I became more aware of how broad the creative world of hair and beauty really is, and about my sophomore or junior year of highschool, I knew I was going to be a cosmetologist. So I officially I started my journey into the hair industry when I was 17 in August of 2019 when I started Cosmetology school at Aveda Institute, and taking on what I didn’t know was going to be one of the biggest challenges but best experiences of my life. After what seemed like an eternity, I graduated in July of 2020 and with a short delay from the pandemic, I became licensed in October of 2020 and ready to begin the rest of my life.
There are many rewarding aspects of this industry, but one of my favorites is that we have the ability to turn anyones day around. The power of an amazing haircut, color, or style can provide instant confidence and gratification within each and every client. It’s always nice to see the smile coming in but the smile behind the farewell, is always glowing just a little bit more. To me it’s the little things, that makes such a difference. I also love that I will have opportunities to further my education my entire career, there’s always something to learn or someone to learn from and not a lot of jobs offer that. I enjoy a good challenge, whether it’s mastering a new technique for a cut or getting messy with some color.
I have quite the bubbly personality and love to have a good laugh, but when need be, I do have a serious side. Being in my chair is all about your comfort and experience making sure all your wants and desires are being acknowledged and applied through my work. I remember how much I use to love getting my hair done before I joined the industry and how important the experience is while transforming you, not just the outcome. I love a good blonde transformation and adding some beach waves for the perfect finishing touches. And I’m always living for a beautiful chocolate brown color sesh as well. That’s enough about me, now let’s make it about you! Book that appointment and I hope to see you in my chair soon!
